The problem with being nice to people all the time is that sometimes (more often than not) you have to lie. When you lie about what you think of me, for example, I have to guess what are your real intentions. If I get used to people being constantly nice to me — and that would likely make me start doing that too — I'll have to be on a neverending lookout for the slightest of negative feeling in others.

And when you're looking for the signs long enough, they start appearing more and more.

Therefore I postulate for the honesty to be considered more important than niceness. Let's stop the lying, let's discontinue deceiving each other, and finally act like the adult, intelligent people we like to think we are.
